The Global Education and Outreach (GEO) Center at Vanguard University is holding their annual Take Off Fair on March 8th, 2023, where students will sell goods and services to fundraise for study abroad and outreach trips. With the Take Off Fair quickly approaching, one may ask, “Where is GEO going this summer, and how can I support?”
According to the GEO website, the places GEO is going to this summer are Ecuador, Poland, Spain, the tribal nations of Arizona, Northern Ireland, Argentina, Israel, Tanzania, Arkansas, and Puerto Rico. Each of these trips is planned with the purpose of serving others and bringing glory to God by doing so. In Ecuador, medical students will be earning clinical hours by serving patients in the jungle. In Spain, students will be studying anti-human trafficking practices and collaborating on a report to be sent to the U.S. State Department. They will also be visiting detention refugee centers in Madrid, the U.S. Embassy in Madrid, and an aftercare home for human trafficking survivors.
In Poland, students will be serving Ukrainian refugees. One student on the Poland Outreach Team, Vanguard senior Hannah Brown, says “I’m excited to wrap up my time at Vanguard by helping others and using what Vanguard has given me to give back to the refugees in Poland. I’m excited to spread the love of God and make a difference in their lives!”
At the GEO Take Off Fair on Wednesday, March 8th, 2023, students from these teams will be setting up booths selling goods and services in front of the Waugh Student Center between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. to fundraise for their trips. These goods and services include clothing, tote bags, music, crocheted goods, and more. To find out more information, visit GEO’s Instagram page @vugeo. Come to the Take Off Fair to shop for a good cause!
