Senior DeAngelo “D-Lo” Jones has been at Vanguard University for only two years. He is currently a senior on the men’s basketball team. Helping the team win a National title, and many wins every week, he’s been an amazing addition to the team.
Transferring from Spokane Community College in Spokane, Washington, D-Lo has had many accomplishments with the team such as winning a National Championship title.
D-Lo started to play basketball about the time he could walk, for the Jones family basketball is in the bloodline.
Both his parents and older brothers played so he was always around it. “I Think the freedom you have when you’re playing the game and seeing the hard work pay off is what has always made me enjoy playing.”
As any great athlete, coming out of high school and junior college, you think about nothing but being a Division 1 athlete. That all changed for Jones, when he tore his ACL and lateral meniscus during his 2nd year at Spokane CC. He had never heard of Vanguard University until shortly after his injury. “After 2 months of not hearing from any schools, Vanguard started to take interest in me. After visiting the school and making sure it was a right fit for me I ended up coming to Vanguard.”
DeAngelo has had nothing but success at Vanguard.
His transition into the community was an easy one that helped him make and meet many friends on the Vanguard campus.
Many people will be sad to see him leave. “It has been a great experience for me! One that I am truly thankful for.” He is a Communications major, and hopes to use his degree in marketing and advertising for sports companies.
