Student Profile Julia Pohl

“My highest goal, in a sense, is to see division on campus dissipate while still celebrating our heritage, talents, and uniqueness,” said Student Body President Julia Pohl on her aspirations throughout her presidency.

Pohl shows a great amount of love for her fellow students and explains that they have become like family. “I get to lead and represent such an incredible student body,” she exclaimed.

Although she’s often seen as calling the shots, Pohl doesn’t make decisions alone. Pohl is assisted by brilliant, talented, innovative leaders that make her job even more enjoyable for her. “The heart and passion that my senators and executive board have to serve this school and see that they do it well, motivates me every day to work harder and take even greater pride in this wonderful University.”

Pohl is currently working on four projects involving chapel, athletics, diversity, and financial aid. The senate is finishing up a campus wide research project by looking at data and making conclusions as to what the biggest needs on campus are right now.

“In undertaking each of these topics, we intend to respond to the concerns,” shared Pohl.

Being student body president is definitely not easy. Pohl said one of the harder things she’s endured so far is ensuring that all voices are heard equally and all concerns are validated. “That being said, even though we are moving forward with four projects we, as SGA, are always available to listen and voice any new concerns that arise.

Though it’s a tough job, Pohl explained that there are some easier aspects to it. “One of the easier things about my job and also the most important, has been the conversations that I have had with administration.” Pohl has put in effort to meet with administration to discuss student concerns regularly in order to maintain an effective line of communication.

Pohl praises the administration that she works with because they help make her job even more enjoyable. “Their passion to serve Vanguard well aligns with mine, and in that we all find a deeper sense of fulfillment in doing the Lord’s work on our campus and bringing His Kingdom come. This allows us to have meaningful conversations on how to move this campus forward as one team,” said Pohl.

Pohl encourages those who are interested in becoming the next student body president to do it out of love when it comes to the university and the people you are representing. “Take the task of representing and do it well, embody it, live it out! Be willing to dream big and work hard.”

“This job is an honor and a joy and I first and foremost cannot wait to see who will run this leadership team next year. To whoever that may be, I hope that you pray into it and that the Lord would make clear the path that you are to follow just as He has for me,” said Pohl.
