From February 23rd to March 10th, Vanguard University’s Lyceum Theater is putting on a stage adaptation of the novel The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis.
Famous Christian writer C.S. Lewis is a master at crafting thought-provoking allegorical stories, and The Great Divorce is one of such tales. The novel begins with a bus filled with citizens of Hell who get the opportunity to visit Heaven, then decide whether they will stay in Heaven or go back to Hell.
Professor Susan Berkompas is directing this production, and members of Vanguard University’s theater program make up the cast and crew. In the preview video for the show, actor Jaida Albanito said “I’m really blessed with the opportunity to be a part of this show and to end my Vanguard experience on this production. I love God with my whole heart, and being able to use the talents that He’s given me to glorify Him has been, like, one of the best processes.”
Aaron Collier, a Vanguard senior who attended the show on the 24th, said “I thought the theater department did a great job adapting such a cerebral and abstract book to a visually interesting and compelling production. The actors’ performances were fantastic and, despite the heavy material, were able to breathe life into each role.”
The Great Divorce is running for two more weekends, so come see the show and absorb the theological truths that C.S. Lewis has to offer! Student rush tickets are $5 at the door of the Lyceum Theater.
