College Corps is a program on campus that focuses on service in three areas: K-12 education, food insecurity, and climate action. As Earth Day is approaching on April 22, College Corps wants to bring awareness to what students can do to help take care of the Earth.
During the week of April 16, 2023 there will be recycling bins around campus. They will be placed in the Vanguard University residence halls, by Samson’s Cafe, and by Heath Academic Center. Students, staff, and faculty are encouraged to put their recyclables in these bins as they will be recycled each day by the Fellows of College Corps. All the money will be donated towards climate action.
Throughout the week, there will also be posts created by the Fellows of College Corps who work at sites-centered around climate action like OC Coastkeepers, OC Habitats, and SCCWRP. Make sure to check out their Instagram: @vu_collegecorps to see these posts throughout the week.
On Wednesday, April 19, 2023 make sure to stop by Heath Lawn from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. to receive a native plant or native plant seeds. Native plants have many environmental benefits such as lower water usage and ensuring that the species in our community are not invasive.
