This Thursday, Vanguard will be hosting Shane Claiborne for a late-night chapel. Shane Claiborne is a well-known speaker who travels around the world talking at conferences, churches, organizations, and schools and the founder of The Simple Way.
The Simple Way is a monastic group that is working to form an alternative culture. They are Christians that put an emphasis on social injustices and helping others in any way they can. They are based in the heart of Philadelphia.
Shane Claiborne graduated from Eastern University. He did graduate work at Princeton Seminary. Since then, he has worked all around the globe. From working on the streets with Mother Teresa in Calcutta to being a prominent part of the well-known church, Willow Creek, in Chicago, Claiborne has quite the resume. He has participated in peace delegations in Afghanistan and Iraq. He found himself doing peacemaking work in Rwanda and West Bank. He has written many books including, Irresistible Revolution, Jesus for President, and Common Prayer.
Come to NMC April 9th to hear Shane Claiborne share his insight on his movement, The Simple Way. He will be speaking from 9-10:30 and the doors open at 8:30 pm. He will also be speaking at chapel on Wednesday morning, April 8th. There will be two chapel credits provided Thursday night. It’s a message you will not want to miss!
