Tinder hit the realm of smart phone applications and spread like wildfire. I mean, who wouldn’t love a smartphone app that allows you to be completely selfish and judgmental, yet with no repercussion. Tinder gives you the opportunity to choose 5 pictures of your choice through Facebook, and will post them in Tinder for anyone around you to view who fits in your settings. After setting your distance, gender, and sexual orientation, you are ready to play. If you like the photos, you can swipe right. Vise versa if you don’t like the person, and would never see yourself dating them, swipe left. But be careful with your actions, as you never know what to expect.
So you are just going about your business, letting that beat drop when all the sudden, your phone goes off. YOU HAVE A MATCH! Thanks smart phone… Now my entire class knows I am on a dating site. You immediately jump on that notification like white on rice. And then panic sets in.
You think, should I message them? Maybe they will message me? I liked them first, so they should message me, right? I only really “Liked” them because their friend in the picture was cute. Maybe I should message them to get their friends name? Do you think their friend is on Tinder too? Maybe if I keep playing, I will find them? Maybe my account is broken, and they are out of my miles range. Yeah that’s probably it, my iPhones messed up. And my ex never responded to my text the other day… Must be my phone too. Just the weirdest thing, it being broken. Maybe it’s Verizon. Darn you Verizon. And then Lindsey Lohan with bad high lights busts in and says “Your Ruining my Life!!!”. End scene.
You end up never responding, potentially missing your future spouse, letting you die alone with 12 cats. DON’T LET THIS BE YOU. Take a stance, be brave, get your life together and make the first move. And just remember, the best cop out is blaming something on a friend. I.E “Oh sorry… My friend actually swiped right, when I told them to swipe left”. Then block them real fast, before they track you down. Tinder is changing the way in which we act towards society. We no longer have to go to the supermarket, or get brunch with a friends in hopes of catching someone’s eye. But always remember the crazies blend in like normal people. Maybe adopting 12 cats is safer than dating… Hmm. Yup.
Oh my gosh! Week after week you put out a great article :-) I can’t wait to read them! I mean you explain it so well it’s like I’m sitting here next to you watching this unfold in front of me! Well done Hayes:-)
