The purpose of chapel is to be close with God and just have that time to worship and praise Him for that time of the day. Having that chance to just connect with Him in the day and throughout the day is such a blessing, but also being college student can be very hard especially time management. Being able to study, go to class, work, or be apart of any other activities can make a college student’s life crazy, but that does not mean Chapel is the time to study or read a book, maybe check social media. Chapel is so much more and should be respected as the time students have with God and to just be thankful to be in the Lord’s presence.
Being able to have that down time in the day should be such a blessing, and should just give students a chance to just take a break from a long day and connect with The Lord. Having such a crazy schedule, and just feeling like there is not enough time in the day can cause some stress. Since it is still so early in the semester it is easy to just go into chapel and get some work done while sitting in the back. Being a freshman, and noticing this does bring up the question “is there faith in the students at Vanguard, or are they just lazy?” Putting an end to this studying at chapel is something that should be done. Most universities are not as lenient with attending chapel as Vanguard, and observing that students are misunderstanding what chapel is for.
Given that, and knowing college is hard, there is still always time to be studious, but that time is not in when other students around are trying to connect with God and just be close with Him. Time management is a key to knowing when to study and when to not. It can be hard but there is always that extra time in between classes or on the weekends, maybe even before bed. Just trying to find time is key to not miss the opportunities given to the vanguard students with the chance to be with Him. Studying with a friend can also give some time to just have a better understanding of the material.
Chapel credits can be required to a minimum of 10 each semester, it is not like the old time christian universities where you had to go to chapel every day, and they would make you recite a sermon to a tutor for a grade.
