Sprinkles Ice Cream opens in Newport

Last week, Sprinkles Ice Cream opened a new store in Newport Beach one store down from the existing Newport Beach Sprinkles Cupcakes. There were around one hundred people in line to try the ice cream on the opening day, so it could be said that the Grand Opening was a success.

The store continues to have a line every day, at least an hour long, until the time they close. One of the main reasons that keeps people coming back to try Sprinkles Ice Cream is that they rotate their ice cream flavors, making it a different flavor-filled experience each time.

The flavors include banana, blood-orange sorbet, butter pecan, cap’n crunch, cherry vanilla, chocolate chip, coffee, coffee fudge almond, dark chocolate, malted milk chocolate, mint chip, peanut butter cup, pistachio, red velvet, rocky road, salty caramel, strawberry, strawberry sorbet, triple chocolate, and vanilla bean.

What separates Sprinkles Ice Cream from their competing ice creameries is their fresh ice cream sandwiches. You can choose between chocolate chip, double chocolate, peanut butter pretzel chip, salted oatmeal cornflake, snicker doodle cookies and fudge brownie and then add any flavor of ice cream to make your ideal sandwich.

The cones are a big draw-in as well. Aside from the normal vanilla sugar cone, Sprinkles Ice Cream also features a Red Velvet flavored cone. They also have a “Sprinkles Sundae” which includes a cupcake of your choice, split in half, with the ice cream wedged in between.

An option that Sprinkles provide along with cones and cups are pints. Unlike other stores that have pre-packaged pints to-go, Sprinkles hand scoops any flavor you want into the pint and you can get more than one flavor.

With its close location to Vanguard, grab a couple of friends from your floor, pile in a car, and satisfy that sweet tooth with a delicious ice cream treat… But make sure you bring a game to play and have a couple hours to spare, average wait times for ice cream are still over an hour.
