Hello Fellow Vanguard Students! My name is Rebekah Pulaski, and I am thrilled to be addressing you as this year’s new Editor-in-Chief of The Vanguard Voice.
If you told me my freshman year that just three years later, come my senior year, I would be offered the position of Editor-in-Chief of The Vanguard Voice, I never would have believed you. In truth, I didn’t have much of an interest in Journalism until quite recently.
I discovered a love for writing my second semester at Vanguard and quickly enrolled in as many writing classes as I could. It wasn’t until my junior year that I joined the writing staff of The Vanguard Voice.
It was then that I fell in love with Journalism, and I am so glad I did. There is nothing that I love more than letting my voice be heard and giving a voice to others. Journalism is an incredible outlet for those voices.
This edition, I have written an opinion piece about the Dancing Policy in the Vanguard Code of Conduct. This has been one of my favorite articles to date, because I grow with every article I write. Writing opinion pieces is something that really drives my love for journalism because it allows me to share what I am passionate about.
This year, it is my hope to grow the reach of The Vanguard Voice. There is a beauty in school-wide connection, and it is my belief that the more students’ stories are shared, the more connected Vanguard University will be. If you have a story, let us know and we will do our best to lift your voice up. I am always available at rebekah.pulaski@vanguard.edu.
I am beyond excited to serve you all—student, faculty, and alumni alike—for the rest of the year. Enjoy this edition of The Vanguard Voice and the many more to come!
