On November 11, 2023, Campus Safety held their last CPR and first aid training of the year in the Mahlon E. Layne building.
Hosted by Phil Cotton, Campus safety officer and first aid coordinator, students gathered to learn the basics of CPR, AED usage, and first aid. The day began with an introduction on the legal implications of performing first aid. Following this were demonstrations including CPR, AED usage, wound care, and more. The training also covered aid for a variety of ages, ranging from adults to infants.
From teachers in training to volunteers seeking certification, Campus Safety’s first aid training was able to help students gain the credentials they need, as well as valuable life skills. Students were able to learn how to assess health emergencies and how to best respond in those situations. Those who completed the training received a first aid and CPR certification.
