Top 3 Local Coffee Shops Voted by VU Lions

The students at Vanguard University are notorious for being coffee shop connoisseurs. It is almost impossible to walk into a local Orange County coffee shop and not run into a fellow Lion. The truth is, the coffee shop connoisseurs that graze our campus did not become experts overnight. It took hours of ‘Yelping’ new coffee shops, swiping up on Instagram stories for recommendations, and lots of espresso shots. I am going to share with you all the top three local coffee shops your fellow VU Lions have voted for and recommend you visit.

In an Instagram poll, the final results returned, revealing the top three local coffee shops your fellow VU Lions have voted for. Coming in third place is the beloved Philz Coffee. Philz Coffee is a very famous coffeehouse company that has a multitude of locations in San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Washington D.C., and Chicago. Philz Coffee is known for its delicious customized blends and for also being a major coffee shop that supports sustainability. Vanguard students voted the Philz Coffee Shop located in Pacific City as their favorite go-to location. So, if you want to enjoy a laidback beach-front location, Philz Coffee is the spot for you.

Coming in second place is the Lion and Lamb Coffee Roasters. Lion and Lamb Coffee Roasters are known for their specialty coffees and delicious breakfasts. Upon arriving, a beautiful pink mural awaits you. While waiting in line, there are coffee products and merchandise for sale as well. According to their website, 100% of the profits from the sale of their coffee go to various charities to end global problems like hunger, thirst, and homelessness. If you like knowing that your coffee purchases are going towards good causes, then I encourage you to check out Lion and Lamb Coffee Roasters. 

Finally, VU Lions voted in first place, Moongoat Coffee Roasters. According to Senior and Communications major Savannah Poulos, “Moongoat is the spot to study and vibe out at”. She shares how Moongoat is always the go-to spot for her and her friends. Moongoat Coffee has three locations: Costa Mesa, Santa Ana, and Garden Grove. In accordance with the poll, VU Lions voted the Costa Mesa location as the fan favorite. Now, if the recommendation of your peers isn’t enough to make you believe, then I should let you know that according to the Orange County Register, Moongoat Coffee Roasters was awarded Orange County’s #1 Coffee Roaster award in 2021. The proof is in the coffee beans! If you want to enjoy some great coffee, vibes, and even live performances, then Moongoat Coffee Roasters is the place for you.
