Last year’s Harvest Party left many Haunted House attendee in sheer terror. The rooms were eerie and spooky, perfect for Halloween, but maybe a little too haunted for Vanguard.
As a Christian University, Vanguard let some pretty over the top scary things make their way into the Newport building Haunted House. With demon possessed girls and creatures that got a little too close for comfort, some would say they crossed the line.
The issue of demonic things being implemented into the Haunted House left at least a few students uncomfortable.
A big question that is circulating as the Harvest Party approaches is, what exactly is the Vanguard student body in for with this years Haunted House.
Daniel Avila, one of the main coordinators for the Haunted House explained how their is a different angle being taken this year. The Haunted House will act more like an escape room, than a terrifying scare chamber.
“It’s gonna be completely different from any other year… The haunted house is going to be interactive this year,” said Avila.
With the theme being Nightmares, there will elements such as clowns, a butcher, bugs, bright lights, and darkness. Since it is going to be set up like an escape room, the group will be timed and have to complete different challenges throughout the Haunted House experience.
“We will not be touching on any demonic elements. It will be be free flowing, so you’ll get to choose what rooms you want to go into… you don’t have to go through every single one,” said Avila.
