On Tuesday, March 31st, Vanguard students gathered in Newport Mesa Church to take part in the “Carry The Love” movement, started by the Circuit Riders.
Circuit Riders is an organization centered on prayer and worship where they train up individuals to save the lost and revive the saved. Their hope is to cultivate a generation of leaders who are fully devoted to God’s will, are living for a purpose greater than themselves, and are then sent out as laborers of the Gospel to the darkest parts of the earth where they hope to: revive, proclaim, and train.
The “Carry the Love” movement started with a group of college guys, part of Circuit Riders, in their house in Huntington Beach, not far from Vanguard. The Circuit Riders have been devoted to college campuses and saw a need on college campuses that they could not overlook. They felt that college campuses lacked an authentic fire for God and for people. Their prayer was to see college campuses across America delivered from empty religion and brought back to the basics of the gospel, which consist of a radical, simple, and wild love for Jesus and people.
Through prayer, their dream became a reality and the “Carry the Love” movement was birthed. The movement started on February 10th and comprises of 60 campuses all around America joining together, uniting for a tipping point. Their hope is to gather influencers on each campus they visit and give them faith to strategize and dream with the heart of God for their schools.
The event on Tuesday consisted of worship led by the “Carry the Love” team and a raw, untraditional message by one of the leaders, Nick Brennt, who spoke about the movement and the call to life a life of love. Brennt shared about his journey through life, the ups and downs, and how he rediscovered Christ love. Students were able to connect with his story and were reawakened by Christ’s love.
At the end of the night, many students signed their names and pledged to live a life of love, officially joining the Activist Family. The pledge states: “I pledge to be a love activist. To extend my heart to all humanity. To see and meet their needs with the love of Jesus. To take on sacrificial love as my lifestyle. To carry the love all the days of my life.”
