For most girls starting college, one of the biggest worries is how they will situate themselves in a dorm. Everyone wants to personalize their space, but they only have a tiny room to work with. Walking through the girls halls at Vanguard, you get a glimpse of just how original these ladies are. Here are some tips to organize and decorate your space, and be inspired by the VU girl’s creativity.
To cover the plain white walls, most people put up pictures, posters, paintings, and tapestries. Since nails are not allowed on the walls, command strips, command hooks, and poster putty are ideal. There are plenty of ways to decorate your desk area as well. Instead of plain white boards, chalk boards seem to be the latest fad. People use them to write “to do” lists, Bible verses, or make a calendar. Chalk pens can be found at Wal-Mart or Target and they are easier to use than regular chalk. Mason jars are an efficient and resourceful way of organizing pens, pencils, and other school supplies to keep your desk clean. Bulletin boards are perfect for hanging jewelry and keeping necklaces from getting tangled.
There is not a lot of room to keep kitchen supplies, but purchasing some extra shelves might do the trick. Try hanging the shelves with command strips and use them to hold mugs, silverware, plates, and bowls.
Be creative and make something out of nothing, while making your dorm feel like home.
