Last Saturday 700 students, staff, and faculty at Vanguard University poured into Costa Mesa to give back to the community. City Serve has been a staple in the community since 2004 and each year has increased its numbers of participants.
City Serve is a great way for students to get together with their friends, school clubs or teams and serve the community of Costa Mesa. Its a time of serving and selflessness, where each individual puts aside their busy schedule and comes together for something bigger than themselves.
This year the Vanguard community joined forces with different organizations like 31 Bits, Convoy of Hope, HB Tree Society, Wilson Street Learning Center, Ronald McDonald House of Orange County and so many other organizations that greatly impact our community on a daily basis.
This year City Serve incorporated a new outreach: sending a group of students down to Newport and Balboa beach. While at the beach, students payed for parking and handed out water bottles to quench thirst as visitors enjoyed their day at the beach.
Vanguard encourages students to live a life of service rather than just one day of service. Providing connections and friendships that students will want to continue to cultivate and develop over the years.
