Top 5 iPhone Apps

With the iPhone flourishing among college students, it only seems appropriate to highlight the top apps to download. Here are the top five free apps you can find in the App store on iTunes.

1. Instagram
If you do not have Instagram, you need to stop what you are doing and go download it right now. With Instagram, you can take a photo, choose from 17 different filters, and upload it for your friends to see. You can also follow different celebrities on Instagram which is a cool way to follow their lives without reading the tabloids. One of my favorite features of Instagram is the method of sharing a photo. With one push of a button you can share your photo with Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, or e-mail it to a friend or family member.

2. In Class
In Class allows you to manage your class schedule. It has a built-in calendar which enables you to schedule exams, papers, and homework. You can also type, record, or take pictures of your notes and store it on the notes tab to have them all in one place. You can organize multiple terms on the app, allowing you to see the days and times that your classes are. Lastly, it has an Instructors tab, which allows you to store all of your professors’ contact information.

3. Pandora
Pandora allows you to search various genres of music and listen to it streaming on Pandora without paying for the individual songs. From country, rap, top 40, and even polka (if that’s your cup of tea); Pandora has every genre of music for everyone.

4. Shazam
Have you ever been listening to the radio on the drive home and and heard a song you really liked but did not know the name of it? Thanks to Shazam, this is not a problem anymore. All you do is hit the big “Shazam” button and it will identify the song currently playing. You can also follow your friends on Shazam to see what songs they have listened to lately.

5. Starbucks
Since almost every college student can be found mingling at Starbucks at some point in the semester, it makes perfect sense to download the Starbucks app. The app allows you to sync your Starbucks rewards card to your iPhone. You can reload money onto it via the app and have the barista scan your phone. The money is then deducted from your account. You can also send gifts to friends, find Starbucks locations near you, save your favorite drinks and snacks, and earn stars to get free drinks.
