Vanguard’s Fall 2021 Plan

Dr.Beals officially announced via email on February 18, 2021, that classes would resume in person in Fall 2021. Students are excited to be once again able to be with their friends and concentrate better on their studies. How will regulations be enforces? If the Covid rules are not followed, will the students receive a slap on the wrist, or will there be serious consequences?

There are many questions quickly rising as the first day of the Fall 2021 semester arises. During a Mock Rock, students gathered were asking questions in regards to the upcoming semester. These questions consist of “How exactly will this semester look like?” “ Who will be in charge of enforcing these Covid-19 guidelines, student leader, faculty and staff, campus safety, or the COVID-19 team?” “Will Vanguard ask for proof of vaccination in order to come back in person?”

Kimberly Cook, Family Nurse Practitioner, sent an email on April 27 (Faculty/Staff/Administration, Undergraduate, graduate, and SPS students) that getting vaccinated is “strongly encouraged.” Cook has included in her email that the university will be hosting a COVID-19 vaccine clinic on campus.

Vanguard released a 2021 plan on their website in regards to in-person class. In-person learning will increase from 25% to 50% of classroom capacity. The Waugh Student Center will expand its in-person capacity to 50%, from 25%. The Motske Fitness Center will increase its capacity from 10% to 25%.
