Memories, forever timeless but where do they go? Are they trapped in the iCloud storage that over times pixelized your special memories or are they deeply regrettably edited? As the new trend shows film is back! Film photos offer a physical copy of your happy memories without the hassle if having to google the month you took a photo.
Where do I start? Why should I shoot film?
Starting can be extremely overwhelming; it can be difficult to find the perfect camera and the corresponding film but starting can also be a learning experience.
Many times, trying a new concept of style there is pressure to execute it perfectly or to even have knowledge prior to experience. When it comes to shooting film, it is a learning experience you need to go out there and shoot for yourselves so you can also gain your preferred angels.
Kelly Vargas, a sophomore at Vanguard University says, what caught her eye about shooting film was her high school classes which started her joy of photography. I also found that having something physical, it was more of a memoir for me.
In an interview Vargas says,
I wanted to have a physical candid moment that could look back in a few years and reminisce on the moments I lived my life.
To others who are curious or wanting to start film and its journey I encourage you to just start. Just do it, it is super fun, a bit expensive but worth it.
A good way to start is by going by your nearest second-hand store and look for used film cameras. Another great way is by roaming around for garage sales, estate sales, and much more. Start finding your niche and experiment.
