Your New Favorite Secret Weapon
In this time of the school year filled with online zoom calls, inconsistent sleep schedules, and daunting finals, we all could use a little extra help. What if I told you that there was something safe and natural that could help give you the extra boost you need to push through these finals?…that isn’t coffee. Believe it or not, essential oils derived from plants may be what you have been longing for.
Aromatherapy: Fact or Fiction?
Aromatherapy is the practice of using essential oils to enhance mental and physical well-being. Megan E. Voss, director of integrative therapy, pediatric blood and marrow transplant at the school’s Masonic Children’s Hospital, uses aromatherapy. She states, “Aromatherapy can be beneficial in the management of certain symptoms such as anxiety, pain, nausea, and insomnia.”
There also was a small study led by researchers at Eulji University in South Korea. In this experiment, patients in intensive care engaged in deep breathing with essential oils had less stress and better sleep compared to patients that didn’t.
