As the spring season begins, our Baseball team has put their best foot forward and started out strong.
“Our team saying is ‘all in,’ which means being in the moment and fighting to win,” Senior Ian Sakry said.
Taking this “all in” attitude to heart, the team has a 9-2 win record this season. Four of those wins have been in GSAC conference play. Another three wins include a sweepover of #16 Cal State San Marcos.
“We are off to a great start; in fact, one of the best in school history. Our pitching staff is very strong and we have talented, gritty offensive guys. We have many key contributors. It really is a different guy each game and moment. We have a great bunch of guys who have strong heart and character,” Head Coach Rob Pegg said.
In a long season, keeping the winning column full is a challenging task, but the Lions seem to have what it takes and are going to do everything they can to continue their success this season.
“It really starts off with how we practice. Everyone works hard each day to make sure we don’t make mistakes in the games,” Sakry said.
Pursuing perfection in a game that is commonly known as a game of failure will give this team the edge they need to defeat their opponents as they continue conference play. The combination of hard work, skilled players, and that “all in” attitude just might push this 2014 team to that record-breaking potential they have.
“I expect us to compete every game and hopefully, by the end of the season, the guys can look back on what they did together with God,” Coach Pegg said.
