From the iPod to the iPhone, the Apple Corporation has been essential in shaping the current world of entertainment. Apple continues to display its importance and creativity in this realm through the release of its latest iPod Touch and iPod Nano.
According to Apple’s September 2012 press release, “The new iPod touch has been redesigned with a brilliant 4-inch Retina display in an ultra-thin and light anodized aluminum body—the thinnest iPod touch ever.” Indeed, the new iPod weighs in at 3.10 ounces while being almost 5 inches in length, making it about 40% longer and thinner than the previous iPod models.
Coming in five vibrant colors, this new iPod comes with a 5 MP iSight camera with auto focus, flash, and new panoramic features which will allow its users to capture the full effect of a stunning sunset or an evening with friends. Like its predecessor, an HD camera is still included in the front- perfect for FaceTime and Snapchatting friends.
Unlike previous models this new version will be running Apple’s iOS 6 which will allow individuals to share photos via iCloud and according to the press release- “Now you can wirelessly display your iPod touch screen right on your HDTV with AirPlay® Mirroring, allowing you to stream photos, videos, music, apps and play games on your big screen TV.”
That amusing assistant Siri will also be an added feature of the new iPod; giving its users a quick way to locate the latest movie times or swiftly post directly to Facebook using its built-in Facebook integration system.
The newly improved iPod Nano 7th generation is also sporting a sleeker design measuring in at 5mm while also displaying the largest screen the Nano has seen yet. A multi-touch pad that allows for quick and easy navigation, this new Nano sports a 2.5 inch display versus the old version’s 1.54 inch one. It also gives its users 30 hours of music time versus the 6th generation’s 24 hours.
Coming in seven different eye-catching colors, the new Nano also contains a Bluetooth which allows individuals to work out, drive, or have a dance party without any annoying hindrances.
There’s also an improved FM radio which includes “Live Pause”- a feature that allows someone to listen to the radio and rewind as far back as fifteen minutes to ensure optimum musical enjoyment.
An interesting accessory that both the iPod touch and Nano come with is Apple’s new “Ear Pods.” In an article concerning these headphones by the Huffington Post, senior VP of industrial design at Apple- Johnny Ive- stated “The shape of the EarPod is actually defined by the geometry of your ear, but they don’t create a seal the way other in-ear headphones do.” Their pod-like shape and several carefully placed speakers do make this new accessory unique and an exciting upgrade from the previous ear buds.
Since the beginning of October, the latest iPod Touch and iPod Nano are now available for purchase online or at any Apple retail store. The prices for these products range from $149 for the Nano, and start at $299 for the 32GB iPod Touch.
